Artemis 1 is the first test flight of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion deep-space capsule. The goal of the Artemis program is to return humans to the surface of the Moon in 2024. Artemis 1 will be an uncrewed flight and is currently scheduled for launch on Aug. 29, 2022. It will circle the Moon before returning to Earth after 42 days in space.
